Davey Boy Smith Jr is reportedly in “serious discussions” with WWE over a return to the company.
Smith Jr initially signed with WWE back in 2006, appearing in OVW and Florida Championship Wrestling. The son of the legendary British Bulldog made his debut on the main roster in 2007.
The second generation star would go on to win tag team gold alongside Tyson Kidd before leaving WWE in August of 2011.
However, Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter now reports that Smith Jr may be heading back to WWE.
“Regarding Davey Boy Smith Jr., at this point he has not signed here but there are serious discussions in that direction.”
There has been much speculation surrounding the future of Davey Boy Smith Jr following his departure from MLW back in December. In recent months Smith Jr has himself added to the speculation commenting “maybe it’s a good idea to go back to WWE.”
While Smith Jr’s father the British Bulldog has recently been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. A move his son described as “long overdue.”
It also been revealed that an upcoming WWE Icons special will be released, taking a look back at the life and career of the British Bulldog. At time of writing there is no news on when the documentary will air.
Since leaving MLW, Smith Jr has been appearing with Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport, where he recently defeated
KTB. On the same card, Josh Barnett overcame John Moxley.
