Dijak & Ilja Dragunov NXT Battleground

On May 28th, NXT Battleground came live from Lowell, Massachusetts, and all of the brand’s major championships were on the line.

One of the biggest stories heading into the show was the tournament to decide a new Women’s Champion. The title was vacated by Indi Hartwell after she was drafted to Monday Night Raw. In the final Tiffany Stratton overcame Lyra Valkria to win the gold for the first time in her career.

In the main event, Carmelo Hayes retained his NXT Title with a win over Bron Breakker, surviving a vicious-looking Spear in the process.

The most talked about match after the event was the Last Man Standing Match between Ilja Dragunov and Dijak. The two men threw everything at each other and then some, before Dragunov finally got the victory.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has now revealed his match ratings for the event. The match between Dragunov and Dijak was the top-rated bout on the show, while the main event also scored well.
