Dave Meltzer has shared his match ratings for WWE’s recent latest Puerto Rican adventure, Backlash.
Although fans were predicting an exciting show before the event, no one could have quite predicted the full scale of the show’s raucous atmosphere. In the opening match of the night fans heavily cheered for Iyo Sky against Bianca Belair despite her supposedly being a heel and the tone was set.
By the time Zelina Vega entered the arena decked in a Puerto Rican flag, the 17,000 strong in attendance exploded. The reception was so intense and welcoming that it moved Vega to tears before the match even started. Although she wouldn’t defeat Rhea Ripley in the ring, she was given a standing operation for a number of minutes after the bell, a moment she will surely never forget.
Although the card was topped by Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes, the crowd’s main event was the San Juan Street Fight between Bad Bunny and Damian Priest. The Hip Hop megastar was roared to the ring with the kind of reaction usually reserved for Stone Cold or The Rock and the fans never let up cheering their appreciation at special appearances from Savio Vega and Carlito.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has now shared his match ratings for the event. The opening match and the Street Fight between Bad Bunny and Damian Priest were the highest-rated on the night.
