Dave Meltzer Hints That Riddle vs. Roman Reigns Could Be Off

WWE Roman Reigns Paul Heyman

Dave Meltzer has commented on WWE’s booking conundrum which could see a rumoured clash between Roman Reigns and Riddle scrapped.

Back in May it was reported that Roman Reigns was being lined up to face Riddle at MITB, Randy Orton at SummerSlam and Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle.

However, this was before Money In The Bank was moved from Allegiant Stadium to MGM Grand Garden Arena, while Reigns no longer features in the event poster.

Since Riddle and Randy Orton were defeated by The Usos, the Original Bro has begun teaming with Shinsuke Nakamura.

On the May 30th edition of Monday Night Raw, Riddle and Nakamura defeated The Usos via Disqualification putting them in line for the Undisputed Tag Team Titles. However, despite many expecting the bout to take place at Hell In A Cell, given that it’s just days away, it appears that might not be the case.

“WWE, obviously, SmackDown on Friday is the go-home for this unbelievable pay-per-view show. As of mid-week, early week, or whatever… Early week. The Uso’s match with Nakamura and Riddle was not scheduled for Sunday’s pay-per-view. Now, it could be on Sunday’s pay-per-view.”

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also speculated that a proposed bout between Riddle and Reigns at Money In The Bank could be scrapped.

“But, the plan was for it to be… They are doing the match. The plan was to do it in Vegas, which, of course, as you recall, the plan for Vegas was Roman Reigns against Riddle. Now, Reigns is not necessarily off that show, but Roman Reigns and Riddle is probably off the show, but they can always change their minds. They can change everything tomorrow,”

At time of writing there has been no announcement as to when the tag team title match between The Usos and Riddle and Shinsuke Nakamura will take place.
