Cody Rhodes defied his body on Sunday night as he competed inside Hell In A Cell with a torn pectoral, now a report says when he’s likely to undergo surgery.
At Hell In A Cell, Cody Rhodes took on Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for the third time in as many months since Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38. Taking their rivalry inside the Hell In A Cell structure, Rhodes picked up a hat trick of wins over the former WWE Champion despite Seth Rollins targeting Rhodes’ injury. Cody Rhodes finished Rollins off with two Cross Rhodes and a symbolic sledgehammer shot.
Dave Meltzer has already speculated that Cody Rhodes could be looking at a return around the Royal Rumble in January 2023 following his injury. Now Fightful Select has added to that speculation with a new report confirming that Rhodes should be undergoing surgery for his torn pectoral muscle on Thursday, the 9th of June.
Fightful’s report also includes some interesting information about notable injuries similar to Cody Rhodes’ and how long the stars who suffered them were out of action. Triple H missed five months, with missing WWE star Elias also missing the same amount of time.
NJPW’s Hiromu Takahashi missed six months of action following a torn pec, and John Cena memorably returned from the same injury in less than four months, making his comeback as the surprise 30th entrant in the 2008 Royal Rumble.
