WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is reportedly ready for an in-ring return at 73 years old and it looks set to happen on an event that will stream live on FITE TV.
Sources have told ESPN that The Nature Boy will walk the aisle one more time on July 31st in a match at Nashville Fairgrounds. All eyes will be on Nashville around that time as WWE holds SummerSlam from Music City on the 30th of July with popular fan convention Starrcast also making a return over that weekend.
Rumours of Ric Flair’s return to the ring happening have run rampant since footage emerged of the sixteen-time champion of the world doing some in-ring training with AEW star Jay Lethal.
ESPN has also reported that the match will happen on an independent show that will air live on FITE TV. Flair told them in a statement:
“I’m going to walk that aisle one last time to prove once and for all that to be the Man, you’ve got to beat the Man”
Flair’s last match took place in September 2011 when he locked horns one last time with his perennial rival Sting in TNA.
Recent reports have suggested who Ric Flair’s opponent might be in his return match with names coming up that could The Nature Boy rekindle yet another one of his classic rivalries from years gone by.
Not everyone is thrilled, however, at the prospect of Flair returning to the ring given his health problems in recent years. Former WCW announcer Chris Cruise has urged fans to contact their local athletic commissions to try and stop Flair from getting a license to compete.
