Darius Martin Returns To Action On AEW Dynamite

Darius Martin & Dante Martin

Darius Martin has returned to action after more than a year out of the ring following a serious knee injury.

After AEW President Tony Khan shockingly revealed that he had bought Ring of Honor, the surprises kept on coming on the latest edition of AEW Dynamite.

With reDRagon already booking their place in the Tag Team Title match at AEW Revolution, a Casino Tag Team Royale was held to determine the second and final challenger.

The first team out was FTR, who came close to earning their shot last week, and they were quickly joined by the reunited Top Flight, featuring Dante and Darius Martin. The latter having been out of action for more than a year after suffering a terrible knee injury.

One of AEW’s break-out stars over the last 12 months has undoubtedly been the high-flying Dante Martin. In recent months the 20-year-old has emerged as one of the fastest rising stars in the company, wowing fans all the way to a recent main event slot on Dynamite.

However, had Dante’s brother Darius, not sustained a serious knee injury early in the year, his solo run up the card may never have happened.

The pair signed with AEW in November 2020, before putting in a number of eye-catching displays under the name Top Flight. The team’s momentum was brought to a shuddering halt in March 2021 when Darius injured his ACL, and later underwent surgery.

Speaking back in January, Tony Khan tipped Darius Martin for a big year in 2022 once he returned from injury. Khan said that he was excited to see Martin back in the ring, describing the high-flyer as a “tremendous performer.”
