Darius Martin Out Of Action With Another Leg Injury

Top Flight Dante Martin Darius Martin

Some unfortunate news for Top Flight’s Darius Martin, as the AEW star has been sidelined with another leg injury, weeks after he returned.

Darius Martin has sadly been sidelined with an undisclosed leg injury, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp confirmed. There’s no word on when or where, exactly, the injury occurred, though Sapp has stated he’s reached out to both Darius and All Elite Wrestling for comment.

This couldn’t have come at a worse time for Martin. He’d only just returned to the Tony Khan-helmed promotion on the 2 March broadcast of Dynamite, teaming with his brother Dante Martin as the pair entered the Casino Tag Team Royale as the second entrants. They were ultimately eliminated last by The Young Bucks, who advanced to Revolution.

It marked his first match since February 2021 at a F1RST Wrestling event in St. Paul, Minnesota, though a pre-taped tag team match aired on the 2 March AEW Dark episode. Darius Martin had previously been out of action with a torn ACL, which had kept him on the shelf ever since. Martin underwent ACL surgery a year ago today, 22 April.

Prior to this injury, Darius competed in a total of eleven matches across All Elite Wrestling, Warrior Wrestling, and F1RST Wrestling, where he dropped the F1RST Wrestlepalooza Championship to ex-WWE Superstar Ariya Daivari. He last wrestled on 15 April, where he, Dante Martin, Frankie Kazarian, and The Hardys wrestled Angelico, The Blade, Max Caster, and Private Party at a set of Dark tapings.

AEW Chief Executive Officer Tony Khan had previously touted Darius Martin as one to watch for 2022 as he inched closer to his ultimate in-ring return. Although an official length hasn’t been noted, he’s expected to miss a considerable amount of time from the ring.
