Darby Allin recently admitted that not everyone in AEW is in agreement over his 2025 expedition.
After seeing his 2024 attempt delayed due to injury, the former TNT Champion is hoping to make history next year by becoming the first professional wrestler to climb Mount Everest. While Allin has been known to repeatedly put his body on the line in AEW, the danger of climbing Mount Everest is exponentially higher.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo at the All In media event, Allin first spoke about the 2025 expedition and how he is ready to achieve the accomplishment:
“I feel good. I wanted to do it. But when it got taken away from me, I really want to do it now. I feel like the timing and just everything going into it, I feel a lot more like, ‘All right. I got this, I got this.’ It’s gonna be exciting. It’s a lot of work. And to do that in the middle of, full time with AEW. It’s a tricky, very very tricky thing to maneuver but I’ve… I feel I’m ready, I can handle a lot.”
When asked how many times Sting has tried to talk him out of it, Allin would not specify a number but admitted that The Icon has attempted to dissuade him from the climb:
“He’s tried. But he knows that I really want to do it. So he’s like, ‘All right man. If you are on a vision quest, you wanna do something, go do it. So, I feel like to me, climbing Mount Everest, there’s so many things that goes into it. I really feel like it’s a journey.
“Because when you are in that climbing a mountain like that, you don’t have the energy to talk like we have right now. We’re talking back and forth, you can’t waste that energy. You have to hold… So, you are just alone with your thoughts on this mountain for essentially two months. And I feel like it’s a very humbling experience. And I want to always dig deep down inside and remind myself of what I am capable of and who I am. I’m very excited for that opportunity to do with Everest and very grateful that AEW is letting me do this in the middle of my career,”
