Darby Allin is set to challenge for the AEW TNT Championship at AEW Full Gear on November 7th, as revealed on last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
During Cody and Orange Cassidy’s clash for the title one week removed from Cody regaining it from Brodie Lee, Tony Schiavone announced on commentary that Darby Allin would face the TNT Champion at the Full Gear pay-per-view event. Allin was seen watching the match from high up in the arena throughout, sizing up both of his potential opponents for the match in just over three weeks’ time.
It’s currently unclear who Allin will challenge at Full Gear as current champion Cody is set to defend the title against Orange Cassidy on the October 29th episode of Dynamite after their match on the Dynamite Anniversary Show ended in a time limit draw.
Cassidy looked like he was about to pick up the win in the closing moments after rolling up Cody with the Mouse Trap, but the 20 minute time limit expired a second before the referee would have counted the three.
Darby Allin and Cody have had multiple storied battles against each other in AEW so far. Most recently in April, Cody defeated Allin to advance to the finals of the TNT Championship Tournament where the ‘American Nightmare’ would become the inaugural TNT champion by defeating Lance Archer.
Meanwhile, Allin has never competed against AEW’s ‘King of Sloth Style’ in singles action. In fact, the two have only ever competed in the same match once: The Casino Ladder match at Double Or Nothing earlier this year which was ultimately won by Brian Cage.
