Darby Allin is back.
For the first time since March, Allin made an appearance on the May 15th episode of AEW Dynamite that aired live in his home state of Washington.
The main event of the show saw Kazuchika Okada defend the Continental Championship against Dax Harwood. After the match, The Elite attacked Harwood and led to Cash Wheeler and Bryan Danielson made the save. Still outnumbered, Allin’s music hit as the former Tag Team Champion attacked The Elite with a skateboard to help team AEW stand tall.
During the melee, it was announced that Allin was the 4th member of Team AEW in the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing and would be the replacement for Eddie Kingston, who is currently dealing with an injury that took place at NJPW Resurgence.
Darby Allin Back Following Broken Foot & Being Hut By A Bus
Allin last appeared on AEW TV at the Big Business special, which was supposed to be his final appearance before he took time away to climb Mount Everest. Unfortunately, Darby Allin suffered a broken foot in the match and was forced to put his expedition on hold but is still aiming to climb the mountain in 2025. In addition to this, Darby Allin was also hit by a bus in New York City while out injured and thankfully avoided any serious injuries.
Addressing the crowd after the show went off the air, Allin confirmed that although he is not fully recovered he will still be a part of the chaotic Anarchy in the Arena match:
“What a f*cking crazy few months. Holy shit, I thought the worst happened when I broke my foot. Then I was in New York and got hit by a f*cking bus. As you can see, I’m not 100%. I still have a little bit of a limp, I got a nose brace on. But fuck, I am going to Anarchy in the Arena because I want to defend AEW’s honor.
Like I said, I’m not 100%. Jesus, when [Dax] just did that suplex, I was sitting criss-cross applesauce, and “A f*cking beam hit me in the head. I thought I got knocked out. I was like, ‘There goes my return.’ [Laughs] I’m not gonna keep you here for long because there’s some more bad-ass action to come. I gotta go to the hospital or something. I’ll talk to you guys later.”
Although recently returning, Darby Allin could now be in doubt for Double or Nothing.
H/t to Fightful.
