Darby Allin is looking to make a big impression in 2025 when he takes on his most dangerous feat to date.
While fans have winced at Allin’s AEW bumps over the past 5 years, the former Tag Team Champion looks to put his body on the line in a different way next year as he looks to become the first professional wrestler to climb Mount Everest.
To date, more than 310 people have died attempting to scale the mountain and Allin saw his 2024 attempt delayed as he suffered a broken foot while competing in a match against Jay White back in March. Not one to be deterred by this, Allin has made it his mission both for himself and AEW to leave their mark on the tallest mountain in the world.
Appearing in Texas to promote All In 2025, Allin praised AEW for letting him be himself and explore other projects, adding that he intends to plant an AEW flag at the summit when his expedition is complete:
“The cool thing with AEW is I can look at myself in the mirror and know exactly who I’m looking at. This company gives me so much. They let me do what I want to do out there in the ring in front of all of you, and they let me do what I want to do in my personal life. I am climbing Mount Everest in April, and I’m going to take that AEW flag and plant it on top of the goddamn world to remind everybody what AEW is capable of.”
Continuing, Allin spoke about the upcoming All In show and how he intends to remind the world what All Elite Wrestling is about:
“When I climb down from that mountain, I’m coming to Globe Life Field, and as a whole, AEW as a family, we’re going to remind the world exactly what this company is capable of. Because it doesn’t happen with just us, it happens with every single one of you. We wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for you guys. So, thank you for coming out. Thank you for continuing to show the love. Globe Life Field, July 12th, is going to be very, very, very special, and we are not going to put on anything less than what you guys deserve.”
Also at the event, Darby Allin stated that a notable name tried to talk him out of the climb.
Darby Allin Looks Back On Painful Match
Prior to becoming All Elite, Allin made a name for himself on the independents and faced off against multiple wrestlers who went on to become the top stars of today. One of the aforementioned top stars is WWE World Champion Gunther, who wrestled Allin in Evolve in 2018. Speaking in a previous interview, Darby Allin looked back on the match but admitted that someone had hit him harder than Gunther.
