Darby Allin – “I Don’t Give A Sh*t About Being World Champion”

Darby Allin makes his entrance.

AEW stalwart Darby Allin has surprisingly suggested that he would prefer to win back the TNT Championship rather than go on to become AEW World Champion.

Darby Allin initially signed with AEW in April 2019, making his in-ring debut at Fyter Fest in June wrestling Cody Rhodes to a time limit draw. Allin quickly progressed up the card, winning the TNT Championship at Full Gear in November 2020 overcoming old rival Rhodes.

The high-flyer successfully defended his prized championship on eight occasions before being beaten by Miro on AEW Dynamite in May.

Following the defeat many fans have expected Allin to continue his rise through the AEW ranks eventually challenging for the AEW World Championship. However, the man himself has now revealed that he has no interest in chasing the company’s top title, only regaining his TNT crown.

Appearing at New York Comic Con, Allin said that while he had most fun during his match with Miro, he wants another run with the title now that fans are back in the stands.

“Out of all of those matches, I can say it was probably the one I lost to Miro. It was lots of fun, but it was during the pandemic, I was having the best matches of my career and long story short, I’d like to run that shit back in front of a live crowd. We’ll continue to show everybody why that championship is the most important championship in AEW. Everyone is like, “I can’t wait until you become World Heavyweight Champion.’ I don’t give a shit about that. Give me that TNT Championship.”

Since losing the TNT Championship, Darby Allin has only tasted defeat once in singles action. On that occasion he was pinned by a debuting CM Punk at All Out.

On the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, the face painted star saw off the challenge of Nick Comoroto.
