AEW star Darby Allin has done the unthinkable.
Last seen in his Continental Classic match against Ricochet on the 22nd December episode of Dynamite, Allin has been absent from television since. While a recent update emerged about Darby Allin’s AEW future, he has now done the unthinkable.
Earlier today, on 18th May, local time 8:50 a.m., Allin successfully reached the Mount Everest summit. His climb was recorded and tracked by Everest Chronicles, which also uploaded data of the other climbers who successfully climbed the summit.
The statement reads:
“8:50am local time Summit!
Good weather was in our favor, but many teams took advantage of the short window aswell, which slowed our progress more than expected.
Darby Allin, USA
Ang Dorjee Sherpa, Nepal/USA 24th summit
Pasang Bhote, Nepal 14th summit
Tashi Thundu Sherpa, Nepal 12th summit
Pemba Sherpa, Nepal 2nd summitThe team will savor their moment on top and then start the return back to Camp 4.”
Soon, another update followed, which claimed that Allin will open up on his adventure after reaching Camp 4 tomorrow.
“12:20pm local time
After summitting, the team had a much faster descent. Arriving back into to camp 4 they will spend the afternoon refueling and sleeping after a mammoth night on the mountain. Tomorrow a descent to Camp 2 and then into Base Camp, and you’ll get to hear the story from Darby himself.
Congratulations again to Darby, Ang Dorjee, Pasang Bhote, Tashi Thundu and Pemba. Thank you to Pemba Tharke for being our South Col cook and having water ready for everyone’s return.”
The former TNT Champion is making the ascent with Adventure Consultants, a New Zealand-based expedition company. In the early days of his climb, Allin had also broken a world record.
Soon after Allin’s massive feat, AEW issued an official statement on X(Twitter),
“Congratulations to
@DarbyAllin
for reaching the summit of Mount Everest!”
We at Inside The Ropes would like to congratulate Darby Allin and all the other climbers involved in this impeccable task.
Tony Khan Had Once Turned Down This Dangerous Darby Allin Pitch
Speaking with Phil Schneider on the Way of the Blade podcast, Tony Khan revealed how he had once turned down this dangerous Darby Allin pitch.
“Darby in the pandemic, early in the pandemic when we had a very light crew. The April 2020 shows that we filmed in QT [Marshall] and Cody [Rhodes’] gym in Georgia, they had just under 30% of the roster there. Darby wanted to get hit by a car in his program with Sammy [Guevara].
I said, ‘That’s not something we can do right now because we really need you. Not only can I afford for you to not get hurt, I can’t even write you off for a week to sell. You need to wrestle on the show every week, so I can’t do that. We don’t have anybody else and you’re a major part of what we’re doing week to week.’
I think that would have not made sense when you have a handful of people there and there are very few of the name wrestlers and he wants to get hit by a car. Not only can we afford for him to not be injured, we really can’t afford for him to be off TV for a week.”
