Darby Allin Details Alternative Plans If AEW Dynamite Spot Was Not Approved

Darby Allin has revealed AEW’s plan B for his live return if the original pitch was rejected.

Revealed to be the final member of Team AEW for the upcoming Blood and Guts match on July 24th, Allin descended from the rafters in a homage to long-time tag partner Sting before attacking Team Elite in the ringside area.

Due to the tragic circumstances that caused Owen Hart to fall to his death in 1999 and the promotion’s partnership with Dr. Martha Hart, it has been previously reported that AEW has asked for Martha Hart’s blessing when the entrance has been considered, which Hart has given each time. However, if Hart was understandably not comfortable with Allin’s entrance, the former TNT Champion had a backup plan.

Speaking with the Battleground podcast, Allin stated that if the descending entrance was not approved then the flamethrower would have made a return to TV:

“Well, plan B was coming back out with the flamethrower. Torching a fool. But… she (Martha Hart) walked up right before she was to go out live, when she presented (Bryan) Danielson with the trophy for the Owen Hart Foundation and then Tony’s like, ‘Hey, we’re thinking of Darby coming down from the ceiling’ and she’s like, ‘Well, first of all, I love your work Darby and I trust AEW with everything. All the precautions’ because you know, we got a great team…

It seemed like there was no hesitation on her part. It was cool because I was right there and just talked to her and she knows how everybody goes about things… So much safety went into that and it’s just like, yeah, we don’t mess around, so…”

Darby Allin Described Gruesome Injury

Competing in the Anarchy in the Arena match earlier in the year, Allin took the brunt of the offence as he ended the match suspended upside down in the middle of the ring. During the same interview, Darby Allin revealed that he suffered a gruesome injury during the violent encounter.

In other AEW news, one star has re-signed.

In an exclusive interview with Inside The Ropes, Darby Allin looked back at being a part of Sting’s final match.
