Darby Allin Claims ‘Best In the World’ Line Was Not Aimed At CM Punk

Darby Allin has claimed that his ‘best in the world reference from AEW Dynamite was meant for someone other than CM Punk.

Allin set the internet ablaze when in a backstage interview with Sting, he claimed that he wanted to face the ‘best in the world’ at AEW’s ‘The First Dance’ edition of Rampage, from Chicago’s United Center.

Fans and reporters alike immediately associated the term with Punk, who is reportedly heading to All Elite, however, Allin has since refuted these claims.

During a virtual meet and greet with The Asylum Wrestling Store, Allin instead suggested that his comments had been aimed towards Sammy Guevara:

No, that’s more Sammy Guevara [we were alluding to] because he calls himself the best ever. Yeah, well people read into it too much. Sammy Guevara, [he] calls himself the best ever so…It’s cool, dude. It’s awesome that people actually care and wanna know what’s going on.

AEW has shifted an impressive number of pre-sale tickets for the show in question, with upwards of 12,000 reportedly sold thus far.

Whether CM Punk does in fact debut for All Elite remains to be seen, as even Hollywood star Stephen Amell could not get a straight answer out of ‘The Voice of the Voiceless’.
