Darby Allin Admits He Was Close To Serious Injury After Scary Bump On AEW Dynamite

Darby Allin screaming during an entrance in AEW

Darby Allin admitted that a bad landing on AEW Dynamite nearly had severe consequences.

On the January 10th episode of AEW Dynamite, Darby Allin teamed with Sting to take on the team of Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita. The match was frenetic and saw interference from Ric Flair, who was ringside for the bout.

During the match, Allin’s death defying nature was on display once again as he executed a coffin drop from atop fifteen foot scaffolding. However, it was another spot in the bout that caused injury to the risk-taking star. Bryan Alvarez reported that Darby Allin was “really messed up” from a bump where his neck landed on the ring ropes, and speaking in a new interview with KSDK in St. Louis, Allin confirmed that report to be true.

“The thing with AEW is, you can expect the unexpected. I mean that, I’m not just trying to sell anything. Every week, there is crazy shenanigans going on. Last week, I almost broke my neck. This week, we have so much crazy stuff. Literally, it’s something different every week. We don’t play it safe. I was in town, I saw this arch, and I kind of want to jump off of it.”

“I Live At The Hospital” – Darby Allin

Continuing, Allin explained that he’s never nervous about performing dangerous stunts in an AEW ring, saying:

“I never get nervous because I embrace going to the hospital. I live at the hospital.”

Sting and Darby Allin are set to team up for Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution on March 3rd, taking on The Young Bucks. Sting reportedly hand-picked the Bucks as his final opponents, a decision that has been met with a mixed reaction online. In addition, The Young Bucks returned to AEW earlier than planned due to Sting’s request to face them.

As if teaming with Sting in his retirement match isn’t enough, Darby Allin also plans to climb Mount Everest in 2024.

In a new interview in 2024, Darby Allin revealed that he ignored career advice from Ric Flair.
