Dante Martin has reportedly joined the long list of injured wrestlers on the shelf in AEW.
On the 27 July episode of AEW Dynamite, Dante Martin took on Sammy Guevara in a first-time ever singles match. During the match, however, Dante’s leg bent in an awkward manner on a number of occasions, most notably after receiving a springboard Cutter.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Dante was later seen on crutches backstage at the tapings. Neither Dante Martin, nor a spokeperson from AEW, have commented on the injury as of yet.
Dante Martin signed with AEW in late 2020 alongside his brother, and gained prominence as a singles wrestler following a critically-acclaimed performance during a trios match against Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.
Since this, Dante has challenged for the AEW World and TNT Championships, and has formed partnerships with Matt Sydal, Lio Rush, and his real-life girlfriend Skye Blue, who accompanied him during his match with Sammy Guevara.
His last match before the injury took place was on last week’s AEW Rampage in a losing effort against Lee Moriarty, who grabbed the ropes to pick up a disputed victory.
