Daniel Cormier On Potentially Facing Brock Lesnar In WWE

UFC Brock Lesnar shoves Daniel Cormier

Daniel Cormier will make his WWE debut at Extreme Rules but aside from this, there doesn’t appear to be a WWE future for the UFC Hall of Famer.

Daniel Cormier’s appearance at WWE Extreme Rules appears to be a one-and-done deal.

Ariel Helwani reported on 2 October that the one-time UFC Heavyweight Champion would serve as the guest referee for Matt Riddle and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins’ Fight Pit match at the 8 October premium live event, marking Cormier’s first physical WWE appearance. He featured in a pre-taped segment on the go-home Monday Night Raw.

Speaking to ESPN MMA’s Marc Raimondi, Daniel Cormier revealed how despite there being talk of a potential WWE showdown with Brock Lesnar, there are no plans for this to happen:

“No, I’ve not heard anything about that. When something like this happens, and this is honestly very good for me because people start to talk; so people start talking, going, ‘Oh my goodness! I remember when him and Brock were in the Octagon.’ It seems to make a lot of sense but as you know, just because something makes sense doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen. So no, there is not talk of me fighting Brock Lesnar.”

Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar were once planned for a UFC fight after ‘The Beast Incarnate’ confronted Cormier following his UFC 226 victory over Stipe Miocic. The fight never materialised, however, as Lesnar instead re-signed with WWE.

Making his promotional UFC debut in April 2013, Cormier is regarded as one of the finest UFC fighters in history, being one of only four fighters to hold a championship in two weight classes simultaneously. He retired from mixed martial arts following a loss to Miocic at UFC 252 in August 2020 with a record of 22-3-1.
