According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan, is pushing for more NXT call-ups.
In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer notes that the leader of ‘The Yes Movement’ is beginning to push hard for WWE management to look at and promote more stars from NXT in order to freshen-up both Raw and SmackDown.
While there are obviously no names mentioned by Meltzer or Bryan, the star does hold a significant creative role on the blue brand in which he is involved in his own booking and that of other stars.
The news comes hot off the heels of Damian Priest’s abandoned promotion to Friday Night SmackDown. As the story goes, as per Meltzer himself, the plan was to introduce ‘The Archer of Infamy’ as the best friend of Kevin Owens in his war against Roman Reigns.
However, that was nixed when Priest turned up backstage for his huge debut on January 1 only find protestations from both Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns. According to the journalist, because it was Roman Reigns, the plan to bring Priest in was nixed even though it is believed he will still come-in by the end of January.
Currently, Daniel Bryan is favourite to win the 2021 Royal Rumble Match on January 31 in order to finally begin the much hyped feud with Roman Reigns going into WrestleMania 37.
