Daniel Bryan has been moved to the Alumni section of the WWE website continuing the story of him being banished from SmackDown following his defeat to Roman Reigns.
On the latest edition of SmackDown, Bryan once again challenged for the Universal Championship after failing to capture the title at Elimination Chamber, Fastlane, and WrestleMania. Champion, Roman Reigns laid down the challenge on the condition that if he failed once again, he would be barred from appearing on SmackDown forever. Despite this, ‘The Leader Of The Yes Movement’ accepted.
In a brutal war that went almost half an hour, the left arm of ‘The Tribal Chief’ was the focus of the challenger. In an attempt to reduce Reigns’ power and soften up the arm for various submissions. Bryan’s strategy almost made his fourth Universal Championship challenge of the year a success but it wasn’t to be.
A Second Retirement For Bryan?
Reigns was able to use his other arm to lock in the guillotine choke and make Bryan pass out. In doing so Reigns retained his championship and per the stipulation banished Bryan from SmackDown indefinitely.
Following the match, Reigns attempted to nail Bryan with the con-chair-to but was thwarted by Cesaro. Jey Uso then intervened tying the Swiss Cyborg in the ropes. This allowed Reigns to then hit Bryan with the devastating chair shot.
It should also be noted that former Undisputed Era member Roderick Strong is also currently shown in the Alumni section as well. the former NXT North American Champion handed in his letter of resignation from the black and gold brand to William Regal some weeks ago.
Bryan returned to competing in the ring in 2018 after having to retire two years previous on medical grounds. During his return, he captured the WWE Championship once again by defeating AJ Styles. ‘The New’ Daniel Bryan held the title until WrestleMania 35. He was undone by the power of KofiMania as Kofi Kingston claimed his first WWE Championship.
Daniel Bryan has recently discussed possibly winding down his career as a full-time wrestler. There is no word on what he or Roderick Strong’s next moves will be in WWE at this time.
