On WWE’s flagship show Priest took on Miz’s long-time tag team partner in one-on-one action. The winner of that match would then be able to pick the stipulation for Priest and Miz’s match at WWE’s next pay-per-view event.
The Miz would act as the architect of his partner’s downfall after he distracted the referee while Morrison had Priest pinned. Damian Priest then recovered before nailing Morrison with ‘Hit The Lights’ for the pin. After the match, Miz attacked Priest but was run off after Priest broke free from a ‘Skull Crushing Finale’ attempt. Following the match Priest announced he wants to face ‘The Most Must-See Superstar In WWE’ in a Lumberjack Match.
From The Royal Rumble To WrestleMania Backlash
Damian Priest and The Miz have been involved in a conflict since Priest made his main roster debut at the 2021 Royal Rumble. In the men’s Rumble match, Priest entered at number 14 and eliminated both The Miz and John Morrison from the match.
That ultimately led to a match on Night 1 of WrestleMania that for many fans stole the show. The Miz and Morrison teamed up to face Priest and rap superstar Bad Bunny. Bunny was hugely impressive in his wrestling debut, hitting a Destroyer on Morrison outside the ring. Priest and Bunny won the match following Bunny hitting a cross body onto The Miz who was prone on Priest’s shoulders.
Also announced for WrestleMania Backlash is Rhea Ripley defending her Raw Women’s Title in a Triple Threat match against both Asuka and Charlotte Flair. A Triple Threat match will also decide the WWE Champion as Bobby Lashley defends against Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre.
Bianca Belair defends her SmackDown Women’s Title against Bayley on the SmackDown side of things. The Dirty Dawgs of Ziggler and Roode also defend their tag team gold against Rey and Dominik Mysterio. While the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends his title against Cesaro.
