‘The Archer of Infamy’ Damian Priest has spoken about his WWE Raw debut and what working with Bad Bunny and getting the nod of approval from Edge meant to him.
On the February 1, 2021, Monday Night Raw, Damian Priest capitalised on his impressive Royal Rumble performance by announcing his arrival on the company’s main roster with a victory over The Miz and a partnership with recording artist, Bad Bunny.
With rumours now abound that Priest will partner Bunny in a tag team outing against Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 37, the former NXT North American Champion has reminisced on his big debut in an interview with Sportskeeda:
“Tell me how I should complain about being involved with one of the hottest and most popular human beings on the planet. Yeah, sounds good to me. But also like, I love what I do and I love just being happy and loving life. And seeing him doing that, I was excited for him. He was so excited and so happy. Cause he’s a huge fan. So for me to see him, you know, like his enjoyment made me happy as well, just because he’s a good dude.”
However, the victory and friendship wasn’t the only highlight of Priest’s evening when he received a second endorsement from Royal Rumble winner, Edge, twenty four hours after being called an impact player by ‘The Big Red Machine’ Kane:
“He did that on his own. That did nothing for him. Like, he doesn’t gain anything by going out of his way to say nice things about me. You know like, ‘okay that’s cool.’ But for me, I’ll know that and that means the world to me. And the same thing with Kane. I had no idea. I saw it on social media like everybody else. I had no idea he said anything about me. Then when I heard what he said, I was like, ‘What?!” And then by the time I saw it I couldn’t even find him to thank him.”
Damian Priest’s WWE main roster debut was meant to occur on Friday Night SmackDown in January, being revealed as the best friend of Kevin Owens in his war with Roman Reigns. However, that storyline was nixed by the WWE Universal Champion when neither he or Owens believed it made sense.
