Champions are used to looking over their shoulder going into WrestleMania but US Champion Damian Priest has reached an incredible milestone on Raw.
Damian Priest ended his impressive run on NXT when he made his WWE main roster debut at the 2021 Royal Rumble. Since then, The Archer Of Infamy has had a standout WrestleMania bout when he teamed with Bad Bunny to defeat The Miz and John Morrison before more success came at SummerSlam when Priest defeated Sheamus for the United States Championship.
On Raw, Priest was in action as he took on former Raw Tag Team Champion Shelton Benjamin. The bigger headline for Priest however as he reached a new milestone in the company. At 186 days, Damian Priest is now the longest reigning US Champion of the brand split era.
Priest’s reign with the title is the longest since Dean Ambrose held the belt for 351 days between 2013 and 2014. Ambrose’s reign with the title is still the longest of the championship’s history as part of WWE.
The title was previously a part of the NWA and WCW before the latter company folded in 2001. Priest still has some way to go to become the longest-reigning US Champion of all time with Lex Luger holding that record with a reign that lasted a whopping 523 days.
Damian Priest laid out a challenge to anyone who wanted to step up and challenge him for his title with WrestleMania 38 looming. Former Universal Champion Finn Balor seemed to answer Priest’s call.
