Damian Priest had a breakout performance at WrestleMania 37 but the United States Champion has revealed he joked with Triple H about facing him on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.
2021 has not been a bad year for Damian Priest by any stretch of the imagination. The former NXT North American Champion made his main roster debut at the Royal Rumble where he started a program that took him to WrestleMania.
At WrestleMania 37, Priest teamed with rap superstar Bad Bunny to take on The Miz and John Morrison. Bunny impressed many with his high-flying action in the ring while Priest anchored the team on their way to a stunning victory.
From there, things picked up again for The Archer Of Infamy at SummerSlam when he defeated Sheamus to win his first main roster gold in the company as he picked up the WWE United States Championship.
Speaking to Metro, Damian Priest discussed joking with Triple H about meeting him at The Show Of Shows with 2021’s edition of WrestleMania shorn of its usual legends:
“I make jokes from time to time. Like, hey, Mania – Hunter didn’t have a match, and that was the first time all these legends, none of them [on the show]. I was like, ‘I mean, did you bring your gear? Because you can have a match, I’m right here!’ He started laughing and said, ‘You’re on a list of people that have asked me that. ‘I was like, I bet, I can imagine – he gets it all the time by guys being like, ‘Hey you wanna work? You wanna wrestle?'”
Priest went onto say, there is one other veteran of the WWE locker room that he’d love to tangle in the ring with:
“As far as other people, man, Jeff Hardy can call me any day he wants to get in the ring. I’ll be game for that, it’s Jeff Hardy. There’s a lot of legends that are still here and can still go, and I’m game for it. that’s just talking Raw, we’re not even talking about the SmackDown roster. As far as Raw goes, there’s a slew of guys, but of course, I want the top guys.”
