‘The Big Red Machine’ Kane has lifted the mask on his opinion of former NXT talent, Damian Priest, following their clash at the 2021 Royal Rumble.
Both surprise entrants in the most recent 30-man offering, Kane and Damian Priest, who was making his much talked about official WWE main roster debut after his original call-up was nixed in January, collided in a battle of the big-men which ended in the former WWE Champion being sent back to the hell fire and brimstone.
Priest, who entered at number 16, was the prevalent force in the bout when Kane entered two spots later. After just 1:51 in the match which yielded the eliminations of Dolph Ziggler and Ricochet, ‘The Devil’s Favourite Demon’ met his match in ‘The Archer of Infamy’ who sent him sprawling over the apex to mark his arrival on WWE’s main stage.
Following the bout, Glenn Jacobs – the man behind the mask – gave his endorsement to the former NXT North American Champion calling him an impact player:
“He’s got a ton of potential. I mean it stinks because I would have liked to be in the match longer. But he’s [Priest] going to be an impact player in WWE. I think you’re going to see a lot more moments like that from him in the future.”
Damian Priest’s Royal Rumble entry came after it was revealed by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the star was due to debut on Friday Night SmackDown in January before the plans were nixed by the protestations of Kevin Owens and WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.
