NXT Superstar Dakota Kai believes that the stars of the black and gold brand should have a greater presence on ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All.’
As WWE’s third official brand behind Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown, NXT has begun to have a larger presence at WrestleMania over the last few years. First it began with TakeOver events the night before the biggest evening in professional wrestling before graduating to Rhea Ripley being the first NXT star to defend their gold at the event at WrestleMania 36.
More recently, ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ Edge took to Wednesday nights to tease challenging NXT Champion Finn Balor on April 10 or April 11 before rumour spread like wildfire that the strap would be incorporated into the two night event in some fashion.
Now, Dakota Kai has joined The Wrestling Inc. Daily to discuss the potential for NXT at WrestleMania and pitch for a larger presence for arguably the company’s most popular show:
“I know the past year has been difficult for that to be something that [could happen more]. I think the only way to elevate NXT further is to have a lot more crossover between the brands: SmackDown and Raw and NXT. They should combine more.
A lot of people remember the Survivor Series that happened in 2019. There was a lot of crossover happening. It was crazy. When NXT came to SmackDown for the first time, causing ruckus. People loved that. I think there is a lot of opportunity there to tell different stories nobody has ever seen before. NXT could really benefit from being opened up to a whole new different fan base. Every time there is a TakeOver, we blow the roof off. For that show to be accessed for a whole new audience is only going to do good things.”
Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez recently won the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day on February 14 when they defeated Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart in the Final. The victory earned them a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler at a time of their choosing.
