Dakota Kai has reached a new milestone in WWE as she can now say she has held onto a championship in the company for more than five days.
Despite years of experience wrestling across the globe, former NXT star Dakota Kai has never held onto a championship in WWE for more than a week. While the New Zealand star held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships with Raquel Rodriguez on two occasions, their reigns only lasted a combined three days.
On this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw, Kai and fellow Damage CTRL member Iyo Sky defeated Raquel and Aliyah to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. With it now being five days after the duo’s championship win, the reign is already the longest in Kai’s WWE career.
The new champ even referenced the fact in a tweet on Friday.
Oh wow, it’s now officially my longest WWE title reign as of today. That’s crazy.
Fans have noted online that this is the third time Raquel’s Tag Team Championship reign was cut short. Raquel and Kai were crowned the inaugural NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions on March 10th, 2021, but lost the titles 56 minutes later to Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon.

Perhaps Dakota Kai will find greater success with Iyo Sky than she ever had with Raquel. As for the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, they may be on a collision course with Alexa Bliss and Asuka after the two helped fend off Damage CTRL during a three-on-one beatdown against Bianca Belair on Raw.
