D-Von Dudley has praised Stephanie McMahon for making an effort to check up on him during a particularly difficult time in his life.
D-Von Dudley has an affiliation with WWE that stretches back decades. The tag team star first signed with the company back in 1999 alongside partner Bubba Ray. The duo went on to become one of the most popular teams of the Attitude Era competing in legendary matches with the Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian.
After leaving WWE in 2005 the pair headed to TNA/IMPACT Wrestling before returning in 2015. When his in-ring career ended, the former Tag Team Champion moved into a backstage role working as a producer, later becoming a coach in NXT.
However, D-Von has struggled with numerous health issues in recent years and revealed in early 2021 that he had suffered a stroke, something he initially kept hidden.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The A2theK Wrestling Show D-Von recalled Stephanie McMahon reaching out to him while he was in hospital/
“When I had my stroke about two years ago, Stephanie called me on the phone. At the time, I was with the doctors because I just had brain surgery as well because they had to break up the blood clot in the brain. So I didn’t have my phone with me,
Stephanie called me twice because she had just spoken to my wife and said, “Devon, I keep missing you; I’m sorry.” She was like your wife told me you were okay, but I’m not gonna stop calling you until I hear it from your mouth personally. Stephanie didn’t have to do that, but she did,”
The WWE Hall of Famer went on to praise McMahon’s business skills, describing her as a “fantastic woman.”
“I admire Stephanie a lot. I think she’s a fantastic woman, and she’s just as business savvy and sense as her father [Vince McMahon] does. Lot of people say you don’t wanna piss Vince off, but I’ll say you don’t wanna piss Stephanie off. You ever see Stephanie in the ring when she slaps? Those slaps are for real,”
Following Vince McMahon’s retirement Stephanie McMahon was appointed Chairwoman and co-CEO alongside Nick Khan.
