D-Von Dudley Discusses Rumoured ‘Heat’ With Bubba Ray Dudley

D-Von Dudley has opened up about the supposed heat that exists between himself and his long-time tag team partner Bubba ray.

During their time together the Dudley Boyz became one of the most iconic and most decorated tag teams of all-time. Across a career spanning two decades the pair won tag team gold in ECW, WWE, IMPACT and New Japan.

However, the two men haven’t teamed together in the ring since 2016, shortly after leaving WWE following a short one year run with the company. During this period the Dudley’s challenged for the Tag Team Championships but were ultimately unsuccessful.

During an interview in 2021, D-Von said that he and Bubba Ray no longer did business which led some to believe that the pair were no longer on good terms. However, speaking during a recent appearance on The A2theK Wrestling Show, D-Von explained that speculation regarding heat between the two was overblown.

“Actually, we just spoke yesterday about another autograph signing we’re going to do together. A lot of people thought that me and Bubba were at odds, and we weren’t at odds. It was just that he and I needed a break. He and I were together for 20 years,” D-Von Dudley said. “I saw him more than I saw my first two wives, which wasn’t a bad idea, trust me! Sometimes, you just need a break. And that’s what we did. We took a break, and now we’re reunited again.”

It was recently announced that Bubba Ray will finally take on Matt Cardona in December, while D-Von will be in his long-time partner’s corner. Addressing his new role as cornerman, D-Von said that he was happy to be involved, but won’t be taking any bumps.

“And if I have to be on the outside walking him down the aisle, help him throw a punch here and there, I can. I can do that. I’ve told the promoters who were bringing us to do this stuff. Bubba would be the main guy wrestling in the ring, and I’d be the one on the outside tripping and doing everything D-Von can do on the outside. And if I’ve got to get into the ring, I’ll get into the ring, but I’m not taking any bumps.”

Back in February D-Von Dudley revealed that doctors had told him that he could never wrestle again after undergoing spinal surgery.
