Curtis Axel Makes Surprise Raw Appearance

Curtis Axel

Formerly released WWE Superstar Curtis Axel made a surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw, his first in over three years!

Curtis Axel is a former Intercontinental Champion and Raw Tag Team Champion in WWE but these days he is plying his trade in a backstage role with the company under his real name of Joe Hennig.

The second-generation star made his last appearance as a WWE Superstar on television way back in February 2020 when he lost in a singles match on SmackDown to Bryan Danielson. Two months later, his WWE career was brought to an end when the company released him in the first wave of swingeing budget cuts in the company.

Fightful Select reported back in April that Curtis Axel could be set for a return to WWE with him and Ariya Daivari both working at recent shows in tryouts for producer roles in the company. Curtis Axel is said to have worked with Tyson Kidd to produce the match on SmackDown that saw Liv Morgan defeat Sasha Banks.

Now Axel has returned to WWE television in his new role as he was forced to get his hands dirty and break up a brawl on Raw between Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Rollins and Rhodes will face each other for the third time in as many months when they enter Hell In A Cell.
