A current WWE champion wants to return to TNA Wrestling.
Earlier this year, on the April 25 episode of SmackDown, Zelina Vega defeated Chelsea Green to win the Women’s United States Championship. For nearly two months now, Vega has successfully retained the title.
Recently, speaking to Joe Vulpis on the Lightweights Podcast, Zelina Vega opened up on the idea of winning another title in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling amidst the working partnership between the two promotions. Hopeful to return to TNA, where she had started her career, she justified her choice, claiming:
I didn’t think about that. I think that’d be super dope for sure, especially because I was one of the people that — again, people forget, but I started in TNA. I don’t say no to anything, really. It’s nice to know that there’s opportunities, for that to even be a possibility, I guess. It’s like one of those things where it’s like, ‘Oh, would you want to do this?’
It’s like, well, it was never an option. Same with [the Women’s US Title]. It was never an option. So it was like, well yeah. Let’s do all of it. Give me all the titles. I’ll take everything, let’s do this. Yeah, I think it’d be nice to kind of get in there and work with people I didn’t really get to work with. I mean, who knows? But I think either way, TNA will always be a part of my story.”
Vega reminisced about TNA and her earlier days in the circuit and felt she had come a long way and almost couldn’t recognize her younger self:
“I do look at Rosita though and go, ‘Who is that person?’ I feel like I don’t know her. She’s so far removed from who I am now, she was a baby. It’s just weird. It’s crazy to look back and say, ‘Yeah, I was tag champion there, tag champion here.’ It’s insane, such a weird world.”

Before her WWE debut in 2017, Vega, also known as Thea Trinidad, was active in the independent wrestling circuit and worked for Impact/TNA Wrestling from 2011 to 2013.
Former World Champion Wants These Two Top WWE Stars Back In TNA Wrestling
Earlier this month, on SportsKeeda’s WrestleBinge, former Impact World Champion Steve Maclin urged top WWE stars AJ Styles and Drew McIntyre to return to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
There’s a lot of talent there. Not so much in NXT but there are a lot of former TNA talent that I would love to mix it up, on RAW and SmackDown. Like, Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles would be somebody I would love to cross that line and see back in a TNA ring. I think the whole world would love to see that.
I think that’s the right and the right moment kind of thing, if it ever does happen. And if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. It’s okay, but it is something of one of those what-ifs. It’s kind of like The Undertaker-Sting match, you always wanted. It’s one of those moments but if you don’t get it, you always think of, what if? So, its just its own creativity in it’s own mind.”
