Current NXT Champion Shockingly Turns Heel

NXT 2.0

One of NXT’s current champions shockingly turned to the dark side on the latest episode of NXT 2.0!

Last week, Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade ended Toxic Attraction’s NXT Tag Team Championship reign and made history as the youngest team to ever hold the belts. While celebrating their victory, Perez said that she wanted to take out Toxic Attraction once and for all and would cash in her NXT Breakout Tournament win to take on Mandy Rose the next week.

However, the latest episode began with footage of Perez lying in the Performance Center parking lot after suffering an attack. She said she didn’t know who’d attacked her, but suspicion was heavily cast on Toxic Attraction as they had motive to ensure Many Rose retained her title. However, the three members of the group denied responsibility.

Throughout the episode, Perez’s tag team partner Cora Jade stayed with her as trainers evaluated whether she would be able to compete. When it came time for the main event to start, Jade came out to address Mandy Rose, saying that if her partner couldn’t compete, she would take her place and take the NXT Women’s Championship.

As it turns out, however, Perez was medically cleared to compete, albeit with taped up ribs and a severe amount of pain on her face. The young star insisted on facing Mandy Rose, and refused to give up despite her injuries.

Near the end of the match, Roxanne struggled to get back into the ring after fighting with Mandy on the outside, and Cora appeared to be supporting her partner at ringside. However, when the referee was distracted by Jacy Jayne, Jade shockingly hit her tag team partner with one of the Tag Team Championship belts, allowing Mandy Rose to pin her and retain her title.

After the match, Jade continued her attack, hitting Perez with multipleshots with her broken skateboard and staring menacingly as the show went off the air. She also made her motivations clear when she declared, “I’m the one who brought you here, and this is what you do? You’re selfish!”

Elsewhere on the show, Cameron Grimes addressed failing to defeat Bron Breakker last week and was confronted by the newly-renamed JD McDonagh.
