This current champion has opened up on their past WWE offer.
A few weeks ago, Australian star Kyle Fletcher defeated Dustin Rhodes in an extremely violent and bloodied match to crown himself the TNT Champion.
In his first reign as the champion, Fletcher recently reflected on an offer he had received from the Stamford-based promotion before joining hands with AEW. The 26-year-old Fletcher is arguably one of the most improved stars on the roster and has already come a long way in his career, at just this early age.
Recently, speaking to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Fletcher opened up about the initial offer he received from World Wrestling Entertainment, which made him feel like a “real wrestler”.
“Kind of mind-blowing. Coming up and being a fan of WWE, just the fact that they were like, ‘We want to talk to you and get on a Zoom call with you.’ It was weird to let that sink in. ‘Ah, okay, I guess I’m a real wrestler now.’”
He further opened up about his reasons for signing with AEW.
“It was the fact that we [Aussie Open] had come in before signing, and we kind of understood the vibe and how Tony treated us and other people. We trusted that it would be the best place for us to grow. The way I’m standing here today, we made the right choice.”

Fletcher is now scheduled to defend his title against Tomohiro Ishii on the August 9th episode of Collision.
WWE Hall Of Famer Wants To Extend AEW Contract Because Of How Tony Khan Treats Him
“I think my contract is up in August,” he said. “I’m not planning on going anywhere. I like my part-time schedule. It lets me keep my batteries charged. I like working for Tony Khan because he’s always been fair and civil to me — and that I appreciate.”
“I have a good relationship with those guys in that respect, but I love where I am because nobody has ever taken care of me as good as Tony Khan is and has. So that’s why I’m so content about being there. I want to stay there in AEW and I want to work more. I want to be able to contribute more, so that’s my goal is to stay healthy and contribute more to the company that pays me. And if that’s wrong, then shame on my a**.”
