Cris Cyborg Defends Thunder Rosa Over Speculation Of Faking Injury

While some speculate that Thunder Rosa’s injury might not be real, Cris Cyborg defended the AEW Women’s Champion.

On the August 24th episode of Dynamite, a tearful Thunder Rosa announced that she was injured and would have to step down as AEW Women’s Champion ahead of All Out, where she had been scheduled to face her tag team partner Toni Storm. Storm instead participated in a fatal four way match and was able to defeat Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, and Jamie Hayter to become the Interim AEW Women’s Champion.

At the much talked-about AEW press conference following All Out, Toni Storm seemed to fuel rumors that La Mera Mera’s injury might not be legitimate while expressing annoyance that she can’t be crowned the official champion until Rosa returns.

However, MMA legend Cris Cyborg took issue with Storm’s comments and took to social media in defense of Thunder Rosa, saying that the star isn’t faking anything. She also posted a picture of herself training with the AEW Women’s Champion.

“Everyone knows @thunderrosa22 is one of the most hardcore wrestlers in the sport! She’s an @AEW superstar and a legit badass who isn’t faking any injuries. La Mera Mera.”

Cyborg is the current reigning Bellator Women’s Featherweight Champion and has an impressive championship history in Bellator, Strikeforce, Invicta, and UFC. She is the only MMA fighter in history to hold championships across all four promotions, making her a Grand Slam Champion.
