Could Tony Khan Disrupt WWE's Plans For Upcoming Hall Of Fame Ceremony?

AEW President Tony Khan could soon face a major decision that might impact WWE’s upcoming Hall of Fame ceremony.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lex Luger has requested Sting to induct him into the prestigious Hall of Fame. However, with Sting currently under contract with AEW, the final decision rests in Khan’s hands.

“Regarding the Hall of Fame, the most talked about thing is whether Sting will induct Lex Luger,” Meltzer wrote. “From what we understand, Luger asked for Sting and WWE was fine with it. That put the ball in Tony Khan’s court. I’m sure he wouldn’t want to nix Sting doing something he wants to do, but there is the other obvious side of it. I suppose he could try and negotiate.”

Meltzer pointed out that similar situations have occurred in the past. When Billy Gunn was under AEW contract, WWE was allowed to induct him as part of D-Generation X. Years earlier, WWE sought to induct Ric Flair into the Hall of Fame while he was under TNA contract. At the time, TNA negotiated a deal that saw Christian Cage appear at a TNA pay-per-view in exchange.

Meltzer speculated that AEW could attempt a similar negotiation to get an AEW alum such as Cody Rhodes or CM Punk back for a one-off appearance.

“I mean, AEW could ask for Rhodes for one TV show and it would give them a good rating, but he may not want to do it and in the long run, it serves no purpose,” Meltzer noted. “Punk would actually give them a better one, but I’m pretty sure Punk would be adamant about not doing it.”

With Sting’s deep history with Luger and WWE’s willingness to grant his request, all eyes will be on Khan’s next move.

Which Basketball Star Would Tony Khan Like To See Back In AEW?

Tony Khan spoke about how he would love to see basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal back in AEW as he reminisced about Shaq’s appearance at the 2021 AEW Revolution pay-per-view and said that the four-time NBA Champion was excellent and is welcome back in the promotion any time he wants.

In recent news, Tony Khan has labelled Toni Storm “the greatest actress in Hollywood.”
