Could The Rock Appear At WWE Crown Jewel?

WWE The Rock - Dwayne Johnson

Speculation continues to run wild about an in-ring return for The Rock.

Even before The Rock appeared on the September 15th episode of SmackDown, there were strong rumours he could be preparing to get back in the ring. In an interview with Pat McAfee earlier in the day he’d revealed he actually agreed to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, before leaving the door open for a match at WrestleMania 40.

This coupled with his appearance on the blue brand sent the rumour mill into overdrive.

In recent weeks John Cena has regularly appeared on WWE TV, in large part due to his schedule being freed up by the Hollywood writer’s strike. Something which has also impacted the schedule of The Great One.

Cena has appeared on SmackDown, and Premium Live Events, and has been advertised for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia despite previously steering clear. This led some to wonder whether The Rock could also feature at Crown Jewel.

According to Dave Meltzer speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, as always, any decision lies with the Hollywood megastar, even if an appearance is unlikely.

“That’s up to him. I don’t know the answer to that one. I mean Cena is doing it, you know, when he didn’t before so you know, obviously Cena believes that the stigma of doing it in Hollywood is gone. So The Rock, I mean, he used to be friends with the Prince so I don’t know. I don’t see him doing anything but WrestleMania though. I mean, I just don’t.

I mean, he could do it you know, with the, you know, with the strike and everything with one strike ending you know, I think that maybe his odds of going back and not having the time would be increasing as well.

WWE Hit Back At Talk Of The Rock Wrestling At Elimination Chamber

The comments came after WWE dismissed speculation linking The Rock with wrestling at Elimination Chamber. There had been reports in Australia suggesting WWE legend would be wrestling at the event when it heads to the country in February 2024.

However, a member of WWE’s PR team suggested this was nothing more than “tabloids being tabloids.”

In a new update, The Rock appears to be unlikely for WrestleMania.
