Former WWE Superstar Ryback is preparing for a return to the ring.
The star rose to fame in WWE and after a run as part of the Nexus quickly arrived at the top of the card. During this period he clashed with a number of the biggest names in the company, although he never captured the World Championship.
The former Skip Sheffield failed to sustain this momentum and eventually slid down the pecking order before leaving the company in 2016. Ryback’s WWE career was mired in controversy with claims that he was dangerous in the ring, most notably from CM Punk.
Following his exit from WWE, Ryback headed out onto the independent scene but hasn’t wrestled since 2018.
Speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Ryback recently revealed that he has gained the trademark for his ring name and is targeting a comeback.
“Yeah, [getting back to the ring is] the goal, I think. I finally won my Ryback trademark for everything. We’re just waiting for the official documentation, which might be a few more months, but once that documentation is in my hands, we will be able to move forward and do business. I’m finally healthy. I’m back and this is the year.”
Wardlow Sets Sights On Samoa Joe
Ryback added that he has his eye on a number of potential opponents, but singled out AEW star Wardlow as a potential rival.
“There’s a lot of guys that I have my eye on. Wardlow peaks my interest, and I think there’s a big opportunity right there,” Ryback said. “I’m a fan of what he’s doing and what he’s done. I like people that can come from nothing and get people on their side. That caught my eye early on, so he’s a homegrown AEW talent that hasn’t been in the ring with anyone like Ryback yet.”
Wardlow lost the TNT Championship to Samoa Joe back in December 2022 and he has his sights set on Joe once again after confronting the King of Television on the 1st of February edition of AEW Dynamite.
