Controversial Ex-WWE Star Ranks Swerve Strickland Among Other Former World Champions: “Don’t Get Me Wrong”

Ex-WWE Star Believes Match Against Swerve Strickland Would Be Huge But There Are

Swerve Strickland has been named in the same list as Roman Reigns and other former World Champions.

Spanning a world title reign of 126 days in AEW from 21.04.2024 to 25.08.2024, Strickland found himself at the opposite end of several legendary wrestling names. Despite losing his title against Bryan Danielson at All In 2024, controversial ex-WWE superstar, Matt Riddle still named him on an elite list of opponents.

Riddle and Strickland share a storied past with their feud dating back to their time in Defy and MLW. Although the two never faced each other at the Stamford-based promotion, Riddle currently competes in MLW and Impact, while Strickland is one of the top faces in Tony Khan’s promotion.

Speaking to Shak Wrestling in a recent interview, Riddle ranked Strickland as one of the best wrestlers he has faced in his career. Despite the presence of multiple-time World Champions and veteran wrestlers like Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Randy Orton, and Seth Rollins, Strickland secured a place on the list.

“Swerve is one of the best guys I’ve wrestled, probably in my life. Don’t get me wrong, there are other guys on that list. Roman [Reigns] is really good. Randy [Orton] is extremely good. Seth Rollins, Sheamus. There are different generations. Swerve is very talented and is of that new generation of top tier wrestlers that are not only strong enough, big enough, but can actually go and go at a certain clip. Swerve is cool, he’s good, I can’t say enough good things about him.”
