Controversial Comments On WWE Raw Reportedly “Left Bad Taste” In Many Superstars’ Mouths

On the latest edition of Monday Night Raw, eagle-eared viewers will have heard more than one reference to recent WWE cuts with a new report saying that they weren’t well received.

The 29th of November edition of Raw kicked off with a contract signing between Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan for a championship match on the 6th of December. As is custom, the two women traded verbal barbs after they inked their names on the dotted line.

During their back and forth Liv Morgan told Lynch:

“Just like your big, fat, greedy contract is the reason why my friends are gone.”

Morgan’s former partners in the Riott Squad Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott were both released from their WWE contracts as part of ongoing budget cuts in the company. Logan has since had a baby boy and Riott has renamed herself as Ruby Soho and is a part of AEW.

Later in the night the issue of releases once again came up as Edge was confronted by The Miz. Edge questioned Miz’s commitment to WWE and told the recent Dancing With The Stars contestant:

“You use [WWE] to get notoriety for your next endeavour, for your next reality show, for your next dance competition while you leave your partners high and dry to get fired.”

That line was in reference to Miz’s former tag team partner John Morrison being part of the latest round of cuts in the company.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has since reported that the comments didn’t sit well with at least one star still in the company:

“It happened several times during this show, and I had former WWE wrestlers, former WWE producers, and a current WWE wrestler, that were all telling me how bad a taste they thought that was.”

During their heated exchange Edge also referenced The Miz’s namecheck during the heated promo battle between MJF and CM Punk on AEW Dynamite.
