In the wake of the groundbreaking announcement that WWE and UFC are involved in an incredible multi-billion dollar merger, two of the company’s biggest stars have gone at it on social media.
After the news was reported via CNBC one of MMA’s most successful and highly-decorated fighters Conor McGregor took to Twitter to tease becoming a champion of both promotions.
The Notorious one posted an image of him holding both of the promotion’s championships stating the proclamation was “#itsinevitable.”
The post reached the timeline of one of professional wrestling’s most successful personalities, Paul Heyman. The current Wiseman to the Tribal Chief, the Undisputed Universal Champion, Roman Reigns fired back at McGregor calling him a “wannabe.”
.@TheNotoriousMMA is a @WWERomanReigns wannabe!!!
Not one to miss an opportunity for a physical interaction, McGregor responded to Heyman threatening to break his jaw!
Careful Grampa. I’ll show up and break your jaw in 3 places.
Conor McGregor Has Previously Been Linked With WWE
Back in 2016, McGregor incurred the wrath of the entire roster when he made several disparaging remarks about them in interviews and on social media.
In a controversial tweet, the former Featherweight and Lightweight double-champion claimed he would “slap the head off” the “entire roster. And twice on Sundays.”
The post went viral and resulted in several Superstars such as AJ Styles, Roman Reigns and Sheamus responding to McGregor telling him to “shut up” or face the consequences.
On a more positive note, during Becky Lynch’s meteoric rise, the Irish megastars frequently interacted online praising one another for their respective success.
In 2021, Lynch narrated a promo video for BT Sport, hyping up McGregor’s third fight with Dustin Poirier in Las Vega, Nevada.
