WWE star Logan Paul could be set for a return to the boxing ring, this time against MMA star Conor McGregor.
Making the announcement on social media, McGregor stated that he has agreed to face Paul in a boxing match that is scheduled to take place in India while denying rumours that a fight with Ilia Topuria was in the works:
The rumors of a bout with Topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.
The Ambani family refers to Mukesh Ambani, who has a reported net worth of $98.3 billion. Ambani runs the $120 billion company Reliance Industries, which has ventures in petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecom, retail, media and financial services.
McGregor has not competed in the UFC since 2021, which saw the former champion lose consecutive fights to Dustin Poirier.
McGregor previously faced Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing match back in 2017, which saw Mayweather win the fight by TKO in the 10th round.
Paul has fought in a number of boxing matches, including an exhibition bout against Mayweather. The former United States Champion has a 1-1 record in the ring after losing to YouTube star KSI and defeating Dillon Danis.
In November, a jury found McGregor liable for an assault case filed by Nikita Hand. McGregor was ordered to pay £207,000 in damages to Hand and to cover her legal costs, which are estimated to be around £1.24 million. Ms Hand also accused the MMA fighter of raping her. McGregor said in court that he had consensual sex with the woman and intends to appeal the decision.
Following the ruling, UK supermarket Tesco removed all alcohol with McGregor’s likeness on the bottles, prompting the removal of the UFC fighter from the Proper No. Twelve whiskey brand.
