Congratulations To AEW Star Athena

AEW star primarily wrestles on Ring of Honor and holds the ROH Women's World Championship

AEW star Athena has just achieved a breakthrough milestone.

Athena is the current ROH Women’s World Champion and has been holding the title since December 10, 2022. She won it at Final Battle that year by defeating Mercedes Martinez after hitting her signature maneuver, The Eclipse.

From there, The Fallen Goddess had successful title defenses against fellow AEW stars Willow Nightingale, Emi Sakura, Yuka Sakazaki, Hikaru Shida, Queen Aminata, Thekla, and her current protege, Billie Starkz.

Athena last defended her championship at Death Before Dishonor at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia against interim ROH Women’s World TV Champion Mina Shirakawa. She was once again victorious after hitting The Eclipse on the Japanese sensation.

As a result, The Fallen Goddess’ reign as ROH Women’s World Champion has now reached 1000 days, the longest in company history. Prior to that, she also surpassed fellow AEW star Samoa Joe, who held the ROH World Championship for 645 days, as the longest reigning title holder in the promotion on September 15, 2024.

Right now, Athena doesn’t have a challenger for her ROH Women’s World Championship after beating Shirakawa at Death Before Dishonor.

A couple of AEW stars also have long title reigns at Ring of Honor

Aside from Athena, who has just become the longest reigning champion in Ring of Honor history with 1000 days as Women’s World Champion, AEW stars Lee Moriarty and Red Velvet have also held ROH’s titles for a while now.

Moriarty is the current ROH Pure Champion, which he won on July 26, 2024, at Death Before Dishonor against Wheeler Yuta. TAIGASTYLE is now on a 406-day reign as Pure Champion after successfully defending the title at this year’s Death Before Dishonor against the luchador, Xelhua.

On the other hand, Red Velvet is also having a 406-day reign as ROH Women’s World Television Champion. She won the title in the aforementioned event, also on July 26, 2024, defeating Billie Starkz.

The 33-year-old, however, is currently injured, and an interim Women’s World TV Championship was created. Mina Shirakawa then won the title at Supercard of Honor on July 11, 2025, against Miyu Yamashita, Persephone, and Yuka Sakazaki in a four-way match.
