Conflicting Reports On WrestleMania 39 Night One Main Event

Rhea Ripley with Judgment Day

A main event spot at WrestleMania is one of the most prized positions in all of professional wrestling. So naturally, the main event spots for WrestleMania 39 are currently a hot topic of conversation.

On March 17th it was reported that the SmackDown Women’s Title match between champion Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley would headline night one, while the Undisputed WWE Universal Title match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes would top the bill on night two.

The placing of the match between Flair and Ripley raised eyebrows with some fans as it had been reported that the spot would be taken by a yet-to-be-announced clash between The Usos and Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens.

Interestingly, the most recent report suggested that Flair and Ripley were topping the card on night one due to “political reasons.”

However, a new report from Fightful Select has claimed that the running order for the show is yet to be decided. Fightful note that if that is the case “several people who would typically be in the know” and many talents, have not been informed. With regard to the “political reasons” behind the decision, Fightful claim that this is simply that there wasn’t a show-closing women’s main event at WrestleMania 38.

The report reiterates that at one point the plan was for night one to be headlined by The Usos vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. Furthermore, “several” within the company have pushed for this to be the case.

Ronda Rousey’s WrestleMania Plans Change

Ronda Rousey’s planned WrestleMania match has changed yet again. It has been reported that her scheduled bout teaming with Shayna Baszler challenging for the Women’s Tag Team Titles has been scrapped. However, it is believed that Rousey will still be wrestling on the show.
