Commander Azeez Will Make In-Ring Debut Next Week On SmackDown

Commander Azeez Apollo Crews

Commander Azeez is set to make his SmackDown debut next week as he will team with WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews to take on Big E and Kevin Owens.

Azeez was watching from the sidelines on SmackDown when Crews teamed with Sami Zayn to face the team of Big E and Kevin Owens. As the four current or former Intercontinental Champions did battle the match soon broke down with Big E and Crews trading blows outside the ring. This gave Owens the chance he needed to drop perennial rival Sami Zayn with a stunner for the win.

After the match, an incensed Crews challenged Owens and Big E to a tag team match on next week’s show but this time he will be joined by his giant follower, Commander Azeez. Azeez debuted in his role at the side of Apollo Crews at WrestleMania when he helped Crews defeat Big E for the Intercontinental Championship.

Azeez is the former Dabba-Kato who had made several appearances as part of the short-lived Raw Underground. Those segments on the red brand showed a fight club-style arena with several stars taking part in “shoot style” contests. The whole operation was overseen by Shane McMahon.

Prior to that Commander Azeez competed on NXT live shows under his real first name of Babatunde. His only other televised appearance for WWE came at the Greatest Royal Rumble event held in Saudi Arabia in 2018. He entered the 50-man Royal Rumble match as the number 37th entrant but could only last just over five minutes before being eliminated by eventual winner Braun Strowman.
