Cody Rhodes wants to continue his current “good” relationship with AEW.

At WrestleMania 38 in 2022, Cody Rhodes made the unbelievable jump and switched promotions from AEW to WWE. Since then, Rhodes has turned into one of the most valuable members of the WWE roster.

With two consecutive Royal Rumble victories and a World Title win, Rhodes is arguably one of the biggest names in the industry right now. However, prior to his move, The American Nightmare was also one of the top names in Tony Khan’s promotion and one of their EVPs.

He was one of the four EVPs in the company alongside Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, and Kenny Omega. His wife, Brandi Rhodes, served as All Elite Wrestling’s Chief Brand Officer.

During his recent interview on ‘The Flagrant‘, Rhodes shared more insights on his departure, and if it had anything to do with his wife or Tony Khan.

There are so many factors that went into it. When I start talking about this, people try to cite, ‘Oh, it was this. It was this.’ Here’s what I can tell you it wasn’t. It wasn’t anything to do with Tony (Khan) and Brandi. That’s a big one you hear all the time that ‘Tony didn’t sign Brandi.’ No, Brandi had been re-signed. Rhodes To The Top, we had a nice show on TBS, that had been renewed for a second season. Go Big Show.

“It was just a situation that felt icky. This is how I look at it in the end, I had really great memories with all of them, all the way back to All In. I had a really beautiful experience for a while, and I wanted to keep the memories good. I wanted to be able, in ten years, if I see those guys, I wanted to keep them good. I also wanted them to know, this is the Louisiana Purchase of wrestling, I will make sure, but I had great memories with them, and I wanted them to know.”

Although Rhodes denied all such rumors, he refrained from mentioning the real reason. He hopes to continue his current good relationship with the promotion and the individuals and cherish the memories he had with them.

Cody Rhodes Opens Up On WWE WrestleMania 41 Rumors

At WrestleMania 40, The American Nightmare battled Roman Reigns and The Rock to claim his first WWE Championship victory. Recently, in his interview with The Schmo, Cody Rhodes shared more insight on the upcoming ‘Mania 41.

That’s the question every year with WrestleMania because the goal is always to top the year before. WrestleMania is like our Super Bowl—it’s the beginning and the end of WWE’s calendar year. It’s the start, the reset, everything.

With WrestleMania 40, we finished the story, so now going into WrestleMania 41, we have to raise the bar. Here’s what I’ll say without giving too much away: I think what happens at WrestleMania 41 won’t align with a lot of the rumors out there. It’ll be more unexpected and, without a doubt, it will top WrestleMania 40.”

Also in the interview, Cody Rhodes spoke about his salary and how his return pay was significantly different.
