John Cena is back in WWE, but what’s next?
On the September 1st episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Cena made his most recent return to WWE. The star opened the show, and it was confirmed that he’ll be hosting Payback. During the segment, Cena was confronted by Jimmy Uso, but got the better of the younger man in the end, leaving him laying with an AA.
Although Cena will be at Payback, and wrestling at Superstar Spectacle, fans are already discussing what’s next. The star is set to be on SmackDown for the next six weeks, and will seemingly need someone to wrestle.
Interestingly, that person might be Cody Rhodes. It’s been reported by WRKD Wrestling that a match between the pair has been discussed by WWE.
Is John Cena Going To Retire?
Speaking after his appearance on SmackDown, John Cena opened up about his WWE future. The 16-time World Champion admitted that his days in the ring are coming to an end, although he’s not quite done yet.
“Every single chance I get to go out there becomes more and more special. There is no denying the fact that I’m 46 and staring down 47. I’ve been here for over two decades. As I said out there in the ring, the last one is not tonight, but I know it’s soon. To speak candidly, when you’re involved in this every day in a full-time capacity, you just think about what’s next.”
Could a match with Cody Rhodes provide the perfect swansong?
