Following their Legacy reunion on Monday Night Raw, Cody Rhodes sent a touching message to Randy Orton.
On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Randy Orton celebrated 20 years since his WWE debut on the April 25th, 2002 episode of SmackDown where he defeated Hardcore Holly. Orton thanked a number of people for helping make his career as successful as it’s been, including John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker, and Mick Foley. The Hardcore Legend later took to social media to thank Orton for his kind words.
During the segment, Orton’s RK-Bro tag team partner Riddle surprised him with an appearance from Cody Rhodes, who was aligned with Orton in the faction Legacy alongside Ted DiBiase, Jr. In the main event of the show, the team of RK-Bro, Cody Rhodes, and Ezekiel would go on to defeat Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and The Usos.
Taking to social media after Raw went off the air, Cody – who recently made his return to WWE – paid tribute to Orton and thanked the Viper for taking him under his wing.
“I have an assortment of jovial stories about this man – but often I miss the mark on the most important aspect…Randy Orton took me under his wing; perhaps begrudgingly or not, but he did it sincerely. Up in the stands earlier in the day, in the car, in the locker room, on the apron…constantly delivering wisdom and functional advice, and it came from a place of experience and wasn’t just rhetoric. His passion for our sport is aggressive. Loud and proud. Did it his way and in the process entertained millions. Thank you. Cheers to 20 @randyorton 🍻 @wwe @usa_network @wweonfox“
Elsewhere on the April 25th episode of Raw, Asuka and Mustafa Ali made their returns to WWE television after months of being away. Full results from the show can be found here.
