Cody Rhodes is heading to NXT.
On October 10th AEW Dynamite will go head-to-head with NXT thanks to a scheduling quirk due to the MLB Playoffs. As a result, WWE is loading the show with main roster talent, amping up the strategy that’s served them so well in recent months.
One of the big names WWE is calling on is Cody Rhodes who will be making a “major announcement” on the show.
Rhodes has links with NXT going all the way back to before it was a standalone brand, serving as the “pro” in 2010 alongside “rookie” Husky Harris, who went on to become Bray Wyatt.
Of course, the Rhodes family has a deep association with the brand, with Dusty Rhodes credited with shaping its early success. After his death, WWE launched the “Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic” in his honour. Some believe that Cody’s announcement on October 10th will be linked to the return of the tournament.
By the time the episode rolls around, Rhodes could even be a Tag Team Champion as he’s scheduled to challenge Judgment Day for the gold alongside Jey Uso at Fastlane.
Cody Rhodes To Be Joined By John Cena, Paul Heyman And Asuka
The October 10th edition of NXT will also feature appearances from John Cena and Paul Heyman. Following the announcement of a huge match between Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker, Hayes revealed Cena would be in his corner, while Heyman closed the show by saying he’d been sent by Roman Reigns to back up Breakker.
Asuka will also make her own return to the brand to meet Roxanne Perez.
