Cody Rhodes may be making a return to NXT very soon.
June 9th saw NXT present its latest Premium Live Event with Battleground taking place live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. With the show taking place in a unique venue, TNA star Jordynne Grace challenging for the NXT Women’s Championship and the WWE in-ring debut of former AEW star Ethan Page all taking place, fans were curious about the event for a number of reasons as was The American Nightmare.
Taking to social media, Rhodes stated that he was excited about the main event and teased making an appearance on the June 11th broadcast:
Watching @WWENXT Battleground curious how my old friend @OfficialEGO will do against @_trickwilliams
( Actually thinking of “dashing” down to FL this week with a gift and see some old friends ) @VicJosephWWE @ShawnMichaels
Rhodes and Page have a history inside the ring that goes all the way back to 2017. Having previously reigned as Tag Team Champions in Alpha-1 Wrestling as 2-Stars, Page and Rhodes would later become opponents in AEW when Page unsuccessfully challenged Rhodes for the TNT Championship in December 2021.
When Was Cody Rhodes Last On NXT?
The Undisputed Champion was one of many high-profile names that appeared on the October 10th 2023 episode of NXT. This was also the date that AEW Dynamite was bumped from its regular timeslot and went head-to-head once again with the WWE show. Other big stars that made appearances on NXT included John Cena, LA Knight and The Undertaker. With the amount of star power on the show, NXT triumphed over Dynamite in the ratings battle.
